Operands

OperandDescription
SThe first operand.
Entries are REAL data registers or constants.
This is the value to calculate the cosine value of.

The value range is -1.7014118e+38 ~ 3.4028237e+38 (2-127 ~ 2128).
DThe second operand.
Entries are only REAL data registers.
The cosine is saved as a REAL data register in radians.

Notice

Error Flag (F11.0) Notice

The error flag, F11.0, will be ON for one scan when the address of the data register assigned by @D exceeds the range of the data register, D. The range of the data register, D, is dependent on the CPU type. F11.0 turns ON when the value of the data for the calculation exceeds the data register assigned to S or D. When the value assigned to S exceeds its range, the value, Quite Not-a-Number (-1.#QNAN0), is stored in the data register D.

Instruction Result

The value resulting from the COS or COSP instruction is saved as a radian. The conversion for radians is: Radians = Degrees × ( π180 )

Ladder Diagram Examples

COS

The COS instruction calculates the cosine of the REAL operand, S, and saves the result in an assigned REAL data register, D.

The COS instruction calculates the cosine of the REAL operand, S, and saves the result in an assigned REAL data register, D.

When the contact, M0.2, is ON (1), the instruction executes cos(0.865) and saves the result, 0.648640.

COSP

The COSP one-shot instruction calculates the cosine of the REAL operand, S, and saves the result in an assigned REAL data register, D.

The COSP one-shot instruction calculates the cosine of the REAL operand, S, and saves the result in an assigned REAL data register, D. Every time this instruction executes, it energizes the output only once.

When the contact, M1.0, is ON (1), the instruction executes cos(-1.234) and saves the result, 0.330465.
