Operands

OperandDescription
S1The first operand.
Entries are WORD data registers or constants.

The signed value range is -32,768 ~ 32,767 (216).
The unsigned value range is 0 ~ 65,535 (216-1).
The Hexadecimal value range is H0000 ~ HFFFF.
S2The second operand.
Entries are WORD data registers or constants.

The signed value range is -32,768 ~ 32,767 (216).
The unsigned value range is 0 ~ 65,535 (216-1).
The Hexadecimal value range is H0000 ~ HFFFF.
DThe third operand.
Entries are only WORD data registers.
This is where the product is saved.

Notice

Error Flag (F11.0) Notice

The error flag, F11.0, will be ON for one scan when the address of the data register assigned by @D exceeds the range of the data register, D. The range of the data register, D, is dependent on the CPU type. F11.0 turns ON when the value of the data for multiplying exceeds the data register assigned to S1 or S2.

Execution Conditions

The WMUL and WMULP instructions behave as follows:

  • If the value of S1 or S2 is less than the smallest possible WORD value, signed (-32,768) or unsigned (0), the instructions will not execute.
  • If the value of S1 or S2 is greater than the largest possible WORD value, signed (32,767) or unsigned (65,535), the instructions will not execute.

Ladder Diagram Examples

WMUL

The WMUL instruction multiplies a WORD value, S1, to a WORD value S2 and saves the product in an assigned WORD data register, D.

The WMUL instruction multiplies a WORD value, S1, to a WORD value S2 and saves the product in an assigned WORD data register, D.

When M1.0 is powered ON, the WORD data register, D20, is multiplied to the WORD data register, D22, and the product is saved in the WORD data register

When M1.0 is powered ON, the WORD data register, D20, is multiplied to the WORD data register, D22, and the product is saved in the WORD data register, D24.

WMULP

The WMULP one-shot instruction multiplies a WORD value, S1, to a WORD value S2 and saves the product in an assigned WORD data register, D.

The WMULP one-shot instruction multiplies a WORD value, S1, to a WORD value S2 and saves the product in an assigned WORD data register, D. Every time this instruction executes, it energizes the output only once.
