Operands

OperandDescription
SThe first operand.
Entries are binary WORD data registers or constants.
This is the value to convert.

The signed value range is -32,768 ~ 32,767 (216).
The unsigned value range is 0 ~ 65,535 (216-1).
The Hexadecimal value range is H0000 ~ HFFFF.
DThe second operand.
Entries are only REAL data registers.
This is where the conversion is saved.

Float Representation

MantissaExponentSign
Bit 0 ~ Bit 22Bit 23 ~ Bit 30Bit 31

Notice

Error Flag (F11.0) Notice

The error flag, F11.0, will be ON for one scan when the address of the data register assigned by @D exceeds the range of the data register, D. The range of the data register, D, is dependent on the CPU type. F11.0 turns ON when the value of the data for converting S exceeds the value range of the data register D.

Ladder Diagram Examples

FLT

The FLT instruction converts a binary WORD value, S, into a REAL value and saves the conversion in an assigned REAL data register, D.

The FLT instruction converts a binary WORD value, S, into a REAL value and saves the conversion in an assigned REAL data register, D.

When the contact, M3.5, is powered ON (1), the value of the WORD data register, D80, -12,345, is converted into float notation.

When the contact, M3.5, is powered ON (1), the value of the WORD data register, D80, -12,345, is converted into float notation. The value of the conversion, -12345.000000, is saved in the REAL data register, D82.

FLTP

The FLTP one-shot instruction converts a binary WORD value, S, into a REAL value and saves the conversion in an assigned REAL data register, D.

The FLTP one-shot instruction converts a binary WORD value, S, into a REAL value and saves the conversion in an assigned REAL data register, D. Every time this instruction executes, it energizes the output only once.

When the contact, M3.6, is powered ON (1), the value of the WORD data register, D85, 25,345, is converted into float notation.

When the contact, M3.6, is powered ON (1), the value of the WORD data register, D85, 25,345, is converted into float notation. The value of the conversion, 25,345.000000, is saved in the REAL data register, D87.
