Operands

OperandDescription
SThe first operand.
Entries are REAL data registers or constants.

The value range is -1.7014118e+38 ~ 3.4028237e+38 (2-127 ~ 2128).
DThe second operand.
Entries are only DWORD data registers.
This is where the conversion is saved.

Float Representation

MantissaExponentSign
Bit 0 ~ Bit 22Bit 23 ~ Bit 30Bit 31

Notice

Error Flag (F11.0) Notice

The error flag, F11.0, will be ON for one scan when the address of the data register assigned by @D exceeds the range of the data register, D. The range of the data register, D, is dependent on the CPU type. F11.0 turns ON when the value of the data for converting S exceeds the value range of the data register D.

Instruction Behavior

The DINT and DINTP instructions behave as follows:

  • When the data to be converted exceeds the range of -2,147,483,648 ~ 2,147,483,647, it overflows.
    • No flag is turned ON.
  • The 32-bit REAL value, S, is rounded down to the nearest ones place.

Ladder Diagram Examples

DINT

The DINT instruction converts a REAL value, S, into a DWORD value and saves the conversion in an assigned signed DWORD data register, D.

The DINT instruction converts a REAL value, S, into a DWORD value and saves the conversion in an assigned signed DWORD data register, D.

When the contact, M2.0, is powered ON (1), the value of the REAL data register, D20, 3.354677, is converted into signed binary notation.

When the contact, M2.0, is powered ON (1), the value of the REAL data register, D20, 3.354677, is converted into signed binary notation. The value of the conversion, 3, is saved in the DWORD data register, D23.

DINTP

The DINTP one-shot instruction converts a REAL value, S, into a DWORD value and saves the conversion in an assigned signed DWORD data register, D.

The DINTP one-shot instruction converts a REAL value, S, into a DWORD value and saves the conversion in an assigned signed DWORD data register, D. Every time this instruction executes, it energizes the output only once.

When the contact, M2.1, is powered ON (1), the value of the REAL data register, D30, -1.111111, is converted into signed binary notation.

When the contact, M2.1, is powered ON (1), the value of the REAL data register, D30, -1.111111, is converted into signed binary notation. The value of the conversion, -1, is saved in the DWORD data register, D33.
