Momentary Push Button Switch for Reliable Machine Control
This guide covers our momentary pushbutton switches, available in illuminated and non-illuminated versions, and explains how to choose the right one for your equipment. It’s written for machine builders, panel designers, maintenance technicians, and automation engineers who need dependable operator input. The right switch matters because it affects how safely and consistently your machinery starts, stops, and resets, and how quickly you can install or replace it.
Each momentary push button switch is built for durability and easy installation, fits standard panel mount cutouts, and suits industrial and automation applications that demand dependable control. They are ideal for applications requiring brief user interaction.
Momentary Switches Built for Durability
Our momentary switches combine metal and plastic construction suited to harsh environments. Key features:
- Non-illuminated options for simple, cost-effective control
- Bright LED illuminated options for clear visual feedback
- Spring-return pushbutton design that returns the button to its initial position once released
- Quick, easy installation and maintenance
Panel Mount Installation Made Easy
Every momentary push button uses standard 22mm mounting for easy panel integration. These momentary push buttons drop into common panel mount cutouts, which keeps installation and later maintenance fast.
Push Button Actuator Styles and Contact Options
Each push button is available in multiple actuator styles: flat, guard ring, mushroom, and keylock. All are compatible with normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) contact blocks, including single pole and double pole configurations.
Normally Open (NO) pushbuttons do not allow current to flow in their default state.
Normally Closed (NC) pushbuttons allow current to flow in their default state.
Momentary Action: How Spring-Return Works
A momentary contact switch makes or breaks an electrical circuit only while it is actuated, then returns to its default state once pressed and released. This momentary action is what distinguishes these self-resetting switches from latching or maintained switches. A non-latching push button never stays locked in position, while a latching switch holds its position until it is manually toggled back.
That difference makes pushbutton momentary switches a practical, dependable choice for straightforward control functions such as start, stop, reset, and jog on machinery and equipment.
Light Switch vs. Momentary Pushbutton Switch
A household light switch is a maintained device: it stays on or off until you flip it again. A momentary pushbutton switch works differently, and it only changes the circuit while the operator is pressing it. This is why the momentary push button switch is the standard choice for machine control, where the circuit should not stay switched after the operator lets go.
