Summary

The purpose of upgrading an application is to:

  • Ensure compatibility with new hardware versions of V2
  • Standardize the expansion module selection (one selection for both V1 or V2 expansion module)
  • To upgrade your project using an older software build (08-26-2023 or earlier) to a newer software build (04-02-2024 and newer) there are three steps you must go through before downloading the upgraded project to your HMC.

Note: Before upgrading a project make sure to create a copy (backup). Once your application is upgraded to the newest software build, the project will no longer be backwards compatible to software builds (08-26-2023 and earlier)

Solution

1.

After downloading the newest version of MAPware-7000, open your existing project and go into
the IO Allocation tab and click “Expansion”.

2.

You will notice the slot(s) that were originally assigned may now be empty. Simply reassign the expansion module to the correct slot(s) and double check that the configuration settings are the same as your original application. Enable “Download Configuration Settings” and press “OK”.

3.

Download project to HMC as needed. If any issues arise after downloading either the incorrect expansion module was selected or the module(s) needs to be upgraded to the newest bootblock/firmware versions.

Note: Expansion V2 modules must have a Firmware version of 38.00 (or above) and a Bootblock version of 5.00 (or above) to be recognized with the newest software build. Technote 7024 shows you how to upgrade your Firmware and Bootblock of a V2 expansion module.
