What is WebView?
- WebView is a remote access feature used for monitoring and controlling a cMT X Series HMI from a standard web browser.
- No extra software is needed. Simply enter the HMI’s IP address into the browser’s address bar and log in to see and operate the HMI’s screens and settings.
What is the PLC Web Browser object?
- The PLC Web Browser is an EBPro object that displays web pages on the HMI screen during runtime.
- It is designed to show pages from a connected PLC’s web server. Other websites may not display correctly.
- It can be added to any window in an EBPro project, but only one PLC Web Browser can be active per window.
WebView vs. PLC Web Browser
The two features have very different jobs. WebView brings the HMI to a web browser, so operators can reach the HMI’s screens and settings from a PC, tablet, or phone. The PLC Web Browser brings web pages to the HMI. It is an object inside the EBPro project that shows a device’s web pages in a project window.
