Summary

This comprehensive technical note describes the materials and procedures required to upgrade the OS installed on cMT Series models.

NOTE: Before proceeding, contact Maple Systems to obtain the latest firmware file. Please specify the model and Serial number for the HMI you wish to upgrade.


Solution

How to Find the Current OS Version

1.

Connect the cMT via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi to the local network.


2.

On a PC connected to the same network, open an internet browser (IE, Chrome, or Firefox), then enter the cMT’s IP address into the search bar and press Enter.


3.

The EasyWeb login page will be displayed. Select Admin, then enter the system password (111111 by default). Press Enter or click the blue arrow button to proceed.

Once the EasyWeb home page has loaded, the OS version for the cMT will be displayed as shown below:


Updating the cMT-SVR Series

Via Ethernet:

1.

Open the Utility Manager program that is located in C:\MapleSystems\EBPro.


2.

Click on Select Model and select the cMT (RMI) Series.


3.

Select cMT-SVR/SVR-200 OS Update.


4.

The Update dialog window will be displayed. Enter the IP address for the cMT device into the top field, then enable the radio option for OS.


5.

A warning message will be displayed. Please read this message carefully before proceeding, then check the box at the bottom of the window to confirm.


6.

Enter the path and filename for the OS update file into the field, or click the Browse button to find the file in Windows Explorer. Click Update to start the installation.

IMPORTANT: Do not turn off the power to the unit while upgrading. Doing so may damage the unit and cause it to become unresponsive.


Via SD Card:

1.

Copy the MTfirmware.bin file to an SD card, then insert the SD card into cMT-SVR.


2.

Flip DIP Switch 2 to the ON position. Restart the cMT-SVR and wait about 2 minutes for the system to update the OS image.


Updating cMT Gateway/CTRL01

1.

Open the Utility Manager program that is normally located in C:\MapleSystems\EBPro.


2.

Click on Select Model and select the cMT Series – Gateway.


3.

Select cMT-Gateway/CTRL OS Update.

The Update dialog window will be displayed. Enter the IP address for the cMT device into the top field.


4.

To update the Web Package: Select the Web Package option and browse for the source file, then click Update.


5.

To update the OS: Select the OS option and browse for the source file.


6.

A warning message will be displayed. Please read this message carefully before proceeding, then check the box at the bottom of the window to confirm.


7.

Click Update to start the installation process.

IMPORTANT: Do not turn off the power to the unit while upgrading. Doing so may damage the unit and cause it to become unresponsive.


Updating cMT Using System Settings

1.

Copy the MTFirmware_IMX6.bin file to a USB disk/SD card. (The format of the external memory device should be FAT32).


2.

Tap the Start Button, then tap the lock icon at the top of the settings window and enter the system password (“111111” by default).


3.

Tap OS upgrade and find the file path of the OS image. (pccard stands for SD card whereas usbdisk stands for USB disk).


4.

Tap Upgrade in the upper-right corner of the dialog box, and the system will start performing OS upgrade.


Updating cMT Using DIP Switches

Models with 4 DIP Switches:

1.

Copy the MTFirmware_IMX6.bin file to the root directory of a USB disk/SD card. (The format of the external memory device should be FAT32).


2.

Flip DIP Switch 3 to the ON position.


3.

Reboot HMI, and the system will start performing OS upgrade.


4.

Once the update process is complete, make sure to reset DIP switch 3 back to the OFF position.


Models with 2 DIP Switches:

1.

Copy the MTFirmware_IMX6.bin file to the root directory of a USB disk/SD card. (The format of the external memory device should be FAT32).


2.

Flip DIP Switch 2 to the ON position.


3.

Reboot HMI, and the system will start performing OS upgrade.


4.

Once the update process is complete, make sure to reset DIP switch 2 back to the OFF position.
