Summary
This application note describes how to configure the Gold Series to use RS485/422 communications with Web Studio. This document assumes Web Studio is already installed and a project has been created. The driver chosen for this application note is used as an example only. The driver needed will vary based on the device being used.
Solution
1.
Set the com port jumpers for RS485/422 communication according to the Panel PC Operations Manual.
2.
Create/open an existing Web Studio project.
3.
Click on the Comm tab listed under the Workspace.
4.
Ensure communication driver (ex:MODBU) and Main Driver worksheet are configured properly. Right click on the driver to display the driver settings.
5.
Click on the Advanced button in the lower left corner.
6.
Under the Handshake section, use the Control RTS drop down menu to choose Always on:

Click OK to Save.
8.
Click OK to return to the main screen. RS485/RS422 communications should now be active on the Panel PC.
