Summary

When powering up a new Windows PC for the first time, the user may be prompted to enter a password to gain access to the system, even if a password has not been previously configured. This document describes how to bypass this prompt and gain access to the Windows OS.


Solution

1.

Power on the PC and wait for the Windows OS to display a prompt to enter a password.


2.

Do not enter anything into the password entry field.


3.

Click on the button to the right of the password entry field, or press <ENTER>.


4.

Windows should now load and allow the user access to the OS.


Example

1.

Upon loading for the first time, Windows will display the following screen:

Press <ENTER> to continue, then the following screen will be displayed:

Do not select the password fields, simply leave them blank. Press <ENTER>. You will see the
following screen:

When the process is complete, Windows will display the following screen, indicating that the
password has been changed. Press <ENTER> to continue.

Windows should now be able to load completely, and the user will see the desktop displayed on
the screen.
