OEM adds Wi-Fi for improved flexibility and visibility

While making the system mobile allows for flexibility around the facility, it also makes it difficult to connect to the local network for the machine to send system notifications or perform diagnostics as there may not always be a convenient network port at that location.
One of our OEM customer’s that manufacturers automated medical device sanitization stations that can be moved to where they are needed in the facility, or stored out of the way when not in use, added a Maple System Wi-Fi-enable unit to meet their requirements.

The Solution
Maple Systems 10.1″ HMI with optional wifi module
The 10.1″ touchscreen (cMT3102X) connects to their PLC controls via serial port. This allows the user to easily select the sanitization cycle needed and clearly view status of the cleaning operation.
The machine utilizes a simple PLC for controlling the multi-step wash and sanitization cycles, and a touch screen HMI for selecting and monitoring the cleaning process.
By adding the optional Wi-Fi module (M02) to the HMI, it allows the operators to walk away from the machine to do other tasks but receive these critical notifications right on their phone or tablet. Operators can walk back to the equipment station or even log in remotely with their phone to respond to the issue.
