How do your Industrial Tablets work with your Headless HMIs?
The Headless HMI serves as the HMI interface over the network and you view/control it using our Android or Windows based Tablets reducing your overall hardware cost by eliminating the need to have a dedicated HMI at every station and enabling multi-user access.
This solution finds itself extremely attractive for OEM machine builders, systems with multiple user access points, cost sensitive projects, remote monitoring applications.
Imagine: a packaging OEM who needs a flexible HMI solution for a production line where operators frequently move between filling stations, sealing stations, and labeling stations.
Solution: a Maple Systems Headless HMI and a Industrial Rugged Tablet.
- In this example:
- cMT-SVRX-822 (Headless HMI)
- Mounted inside the centrally located control panel on DIN rail and connected to multiple PLCs and field devices, built-in EasyAccess2.0 for remote access.
- RT1110A (Rugged Tablet)
- Rugged build with MIL-STD-810 and IP67 certification, connected to the network over Wi-Fi, running the free cMT Viewer App.
- cMT-SVRX-822 (Headless HMI)
How it works:
- Headless HMI collects PLC data, processes it and hosts the HMI application.
- cMT Viewer app gives multiple users simultaneous access to the project running on the HMI and all the data its storing and delivering with no interruptions to the other users.
- The machine operator uses the Rugged Tablet / cMT Viewer to view machine status, start and stop processes, acknowledge alarms, and monitor trends, from anywhere along the manufacturing line, in real time, with no need to return to the control panel.
- EasyAccess2.0 gives secure, remote access to the Headless HMI and connected PLC projects, giving you full access to your system from anywhere in the world.
- Maintenance Tech – Tablet/cMT Viewer
- Supervisor – Laptop/cMT Viewer
- Operator – second Tablet/cMT Viewer
- Plant Manager – Cell Phone/EasyAccess2.0
- Engineer – third tablet/cMT Viewer
By combining a Headless HMI with a Rugged Tablet, we’ve increased operational efficiency by giving the operators the ability to control the machine directly at the point of operation, reducing response time and improving productivity. Reduced hardware cost as one headless HMI, centrally located, replaces traditional panels located throughout the packaging line. Minimize downtime as we’ve eliminated the need to run back to the control panel at every time we need to access the HMI.
