What is Grade 304 stainless steel?
Grade 304 stainless steel, often referred to as 18-8 stainless steel, is one of the most widely used stainless steel alloys, including for our industrial Stainless Steel PC product line. It’s valued for its excellent corrosion resistance, strength, and ease of cleaning, which makes it ideal for harsh or hygiene-critical environments.
Unlike similar alloys (such as 302 stainless steel), 304 includes a balanced mix of chromium and nickel that offers high durability without sacrificing formability. This combination allows the material to withstand moisture, chemicals, and frequent washdowns.
Grade 304 stainless steel is commonly used because:
- Resistant to rust, corrosion, and most cleaning chemicals
- Strong and durable for everyday industrial use
- Smooth, non-porous surface that supports sanitary conditions
- Easy to clean and maintain
- Suitable for environments where standard carbon steel would degrade
Common applications of 304 stainless steel include:
- Food processing equipment
- Commercial kitchens
- Chemical and pharmaceutical plants
- Piping and fluid-handling systems
- Fasteners and structural components
- Appliances such as refrigerators and dishwashers

What is a Heavy Industrial PC?
Heavy Industrial PCs, distinct from conventional computers, are specifically engineered for use in industrial settings, boasting resilience against harsh environmental factors such as extreme weather conditions, dust, and high temperatures. Designed to endure challenging conditions, they find application in various industrial environments including factories, water treatment plants, oil refineries, and laboratories.
Industrial PC (IPC)
An Industrial PC or IPC is also known as a Box PC, Embedded PC, Panel PC, Panel Mounted Computer, Touch Panel PC, or Industrial Panel PC. IPCs can be sold with or without an integrated industrial display. An integrated display allows the entire computer to be mounted in any manner available for the display alone, ex panel mount, VESA, wall, etc., and eliminates the need for a separate space for the computer. A Panel PC is typically ruggedized for use in industrial or high-traffic settings.
Are Maple Systems Industrial Computers Fanless?
Yes, all our Industrial Panel PC and Embedded Box PC units are fanless design.

How do I know if I need an extended or standard temperature rating?
Many Industrial PCs are rated to operate in temperatures ranging from 0-50° C. This temperature range is ideal for uses such as office environments, warehouses, or other climate-controlled spaces.
Industrial PCs featuring an extended operating temperature range will be rated for operation in temperatures outside of the standard 0-50° C range. Some extended temp rated units can operate in 60° or 70° C environments, whereas others can operate in extreme cold such as -20° or -40° C. There are others that can operate in both extremes – at any temperature from -40~70° C!
