The term Operator Interface (OIT) is often interchangeable with Human Machine Interface (HMI). These interfaces can include touchscreens or keypads with buttons and LCD/VFD displays which run software which allows the operator to control other peripheral devices such as PLCs, Drives, and other equipment in a machine.
