Summary
This guide explains how to activate Windows using a product key. If activation through settings fails, use the Windows Activation Utility. An internet connection is required for successful activation. Follow the steps to ensure a smooth activation process.
Solution – Method One
1.
Ensure your IPC, Box PC, or Panel PC has internet connection.
2.
On the Keyboard Press the Windows Key and type in “activation Settings”
3.
On System > Activation page click “Change” next to Change Product Key to activate your PC
4.
Insert your Product Key’s code that’s present on the back of your IPC, Box PC, or Panel PC into the Change Product Key field then click “Next”
Note: Activation should happen instantly. After successful activation it is recommended to restart the IPC, Box PC, or Panel PC. If activation takes 1-2 minutes, then please restart the PC and observe if the unit is activated.
Solution – Method Two
If the above method does not successfully activate your product key license, then it is possible firewall rules could block the activation process. Therefore, try the following commands in an administrator PowerShell window:

Open an administrator PowerShell Window
2.
Perform the following commands:
a.
Clear the Product Key:
i.
Slmgr /upk
b.
Clear Product Key from Registry:
i.
Slmgr /cpky
c.
Changes the Product Key:
i.
Slmgr /ipk ProductKeyHereDashesAndAll
d.
Forces Activation of the Product Key
i.
Slmgr /ato
Note: Activation should happen instantly. After successful activation it is recommended to restart the IPC, Box PC, or Panel PC. If activation takes 1-2 minutes, then please restart the PC and observe if the unit is activated.
