Gateway Device

Gateway devices can perform a variety of tasks.  Most often they connect two networks or devices with different communication protocols or data formats so that devices can use it.  Gateways can add communication protocols and/or Wi-Fi capabilities to existing systems and are often used to transmit data from existing controllers to the SCADA, ERP, or cloud systems. 

Can I pair an Advanced HMI with a Gateway Products?Yes, adding a Gateway with Serial or Ethernet bridge can upgrade your existing controller and touch panel without the need for modifying the PLC and HMI projects, adding all the functionality of our High-Performance Series to your existing system. With the IIoT protocols: MQTT and OPC UA built-in, Maple Systems Gateway products can easily fit into most applications and integrate real time data from different devices, to provide a standard communication interface. What is a cMT Gateway?Maple Systems cMT Gateway products are designed to bridge existing control systems, including legacy systems, to a SCADA management network. The cMT Gateway models support a variety of communication protocols that can connect with over 300 brands of controllers and transmit data from the controller to a SCADA or ERP system using IIoT protocols such as MQTT and OPC UA. They also support EasyAccess 2.0, our remote access service, to provide remote monitoring of the operation status of onsite machines and maintain connected controllers.
What is an Edge Gateway (EG)?

In automation systems a gateway is a protocol translator. In the IIoT, protocol translators are referred to as “Edge Gateways” because they are at the ‘edge’ of the widely distributed network of devices creating and consuming data.
