Power over Ethernet (PoE)

Power over Ethernet (PoE) enables network cables to not only transmit data but also deliver electrical power. One of the most significant advantages of PoE is its ability to deliver both power and data over a single Ethernet cable. This eliminates the need for separate power cables, reducing cable clutter and simplifying the installation process. It is particularly advantageous in locations where adding power outlets can be challenging or costly.

To illustrate, consider the typical installation of a digital security camera. Traditionally, two separate connections are needed: one for establishing a network connection to communicate with video recording and display equipment, and another for power supply. PoE combines both functions into a single cable, streamlining the installation process.

Class 1, Division 2 Industrial PC environments

Why Class 1, Division 2

Class 1 Division 2, or C1D2, is one of the most important factors to consider when looking for rugged industrial PC to use in hazardous industries. Any electronics being used in a potentially dangerous environment or around flammable hazards must be C1D2 certified to prevent dangerous explosions and ensure worker safety.

SCADA Software

AVEVA Edge, formerly known as Indusoft WebStudio, is a powerful HMI/SCADA software package for a wide range of industrial applications. With easy-to-use commands/tool bars and a Microsoft Windows™ environment, Aveva™Edge’s feature-rich application puts you in the driver’s seat of creating your industrial process.

Our Industrial PCs support other types of 3rd party, Windows™ based, SCADA software like FactoryTalk®, SIMATIC WinCC, Ignition, and more!

Add an Industrial Monitor for More Versatility

Our Embedded Industrial Box PC are fully compatible with our Industrial Monitors. With 10.1”, 10.4”, 12.1”, 15.0”, 15.6″, 17.0”, 19″ and 21.5” capacitive touchscreens, high brightness/sunlight readable options, high brightness/extended temperature with optical bonding options, or Class 1, Div 2 rated options, pairing a Maple Systems Industrial PC with one of our Industrial Monitors is easy.

Linux OS for Industrial PCs

Our Linux® Industrial PCs come with Ubuntu® Operating System (OS) installed to guarantee hardware-software compatibility. You can choose either Ubuntu® Desktop or Ubuntu® Server and take the guesswork out of a reliable PC to run your Linux® OS application. These options give you all the power and flexibility of the Free and Open-Source Software (FOSS) world.

Support for RAID 0 RAID 1

Also known as Disk Striping, RAID 0 offers the benefit of increased performance. Data is “striped” across multiple disks that work in concert to appear as a single partition. RAID 0 is usually implemented for caching live streams and other files where speed is important and reliability/data loss is secondary.

RAID 1 writes and reads identical data to pairs of drives. This process is often called data mirroring and it’s a primary function is to provide redundancy. If any of the disks in the array fails, the system can still access data from the remaining disk(s). Once the faulty disk is replaced with a new one, the data is copied to it from the functioning disk(s) to rebuild the array.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Embedded Industrial Box PC?

Compact, standalone computing device designed for industrial and commercial use, built with rugged, fanless enclosures, protecting them from dust and debris accumulation, moisture, machine vibration, and extreme temperatures. Powered by either Intel or AMD processors, our Embedded Box PCs offer a wide range of RAM and storage options, extended operating temperature ranges, PoE, Wi-Fi, and 4G/LTE options, and plenty of I/O. These PCs are typically implemented as part of a larger system and can be individually adapted to any respective application, allowing use for everything from monitoring and regulating automation lines to managing security cameras, digital signage, and AI-powered systems.

How do I know if I need an extended or standard temperature rating?

Many Industrial PCs are rated to operate in temperatures ranging from 0-50° C. This temperature range is ideal for uses such as office environments, warehouses, or other climate-controlled spaces.

Industrial PCs featuring an extended operating temperature range will be rated for operation in temperatures outside of the standard 0-50° C range. Some extended temp rated units can operate in 60° or 70° C environments, whereas others can operate in extreme cold such as -20° or -40° C. There are others that can operate in both extremes – at any temperature from -40~70° C!

Will I need a monitor/display for my Industrial Box PC?

Not all applications require a monitor/display, however it would make it easier if you had a display to see the outputs and interact with the system! Choosing the right monitor for your application can be just as important as selecting the CPU and RAM – after all, a small 7-inch display may not be suitable for a large factory environment, while a 21.5″ high brightness display may not be the right choice for a smaller assembly station, maybe a mobile display is needed? Options like screen size, enclosure material, touch function, brightness, viewing angle and backlight lifetime can all be limiting factors. Check out our full listing of Industrial Monitors, ideal for applications in Healthcare, Education, Finance/Banking, Industrial & Home Automation, Retail, and Transportation.

Are your Embedded Industrial PCs compliant with industrial certifications?

Yes, all are certified for industry standards like CE, FCC, and RoHS. Most units have IP ratings ranging from IP20, IP30, IP54, & IP66. Select models have cULus and C1D2 listings.

How long is the life cycle of embedded computers?

Embedded systems can have long life cycles, typically designed for 5-10 years, depending on their environment. We offer a 2 year warranty on all our IPCs.

What storage options are available in your Industrial Box PC?

Our Box PC’s come with either a 2.5″ SATA3, mSATA, or M.2 NVMe SSDs, ranging from 64 GB up to 2 TB.

What types of I/O and wireless connectivity do your embedded PCs offer?

Our IPCs come with up to 4 serial communication ports, RS-232/422/485 supported, Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 4.0 supported on each, GbE and 2.5 GbE ports, USB 2.0 Type A, USB 3.0 Type A, USB 3.2 Type A, USB 3.2 Type C, HDMI, DVI-I, DisplayPorts, DP++, Audio (Line-In, Line-Out, Mic-In), SIM Card/4G/LTE, Digital I/O, PoE and more!

Do your Embedded IPCs support Windows 11?

Our IPCs have drivers for Win 10 IoT Enterprise, Win 11 IoT Enterprise, Win 11 Pro, and Linux Ubuntu. See specific product pages for Operating System options.
