How to Connect an HMI & PLC Combo with a Remote I/O via Modbus

This tutorial shows you how to connect an HMI+PLC combo with a Remote I/O using Modbus communication to read the analog input from a J-Thermocouple and get the digital output using an LED light.

ETHERNET CONFIGURATION

LAN2: PC to iR-ETN Coupler

LAN1: iR-ETN Coupler to HMC4070A-M

WIRING (POWER)

24V Power Supply to 24V HMC4070A-M

24V HMC4070A-M to 24V iR-ETN Coupler

0V Power Supply to 0V HMC4070A-M

0V HMC4070A-M to 0V iR-ETN Coupler

WIRING (ANALOG INPUT – J THERMOCOUPLE)

TC to CH1 V1+ on AM06-V1

TC to CH1 V1- on AM06-V1

WIRING (DIGITAL OUTPUT – LED LIGHT)

DQ08-R CH0 to LED Light

DQ08-R C0 to LED Light

This wiring diagram can also be applied to any HMC and compatible Remote I/O. The J-Thermocouple and LED light are only used as examples.
