Summary
Describes how to log-in to the built-in FTP server on HMI Series units from a PC in order to access data files, event files, and recipe files.
Solution
Enable FTP Access to Connected USB/SD Card Media
This step is only required if you would like to send files to an attached USB stick or SD card.
1.
Open the System Settings on the HMI and enter the default password (111111). Advanced and Basic HMIs have a System Toolbar in the lower right corner of the screen.
For cMT HMIs, the System Settings menu can be accessed by tapping the orange circular button that is located in the top left corner by default. Once in System Information, click the lock icon and enter the system password (default is “111111”) to enter edit mode.
2.
(Basic/Advanced Models) Use the Next button to get to the Miscellaneous tab and check the “FTP client can modify USB/SD data” option. Also take note of your unit’s IP address.
(cMT Models) Navigate to the General tab, and enable the “FTP client can modify USB/SD data” option. Also take note of your unit’s IP address on the Information tab.
Connect to the HMI FTP Server
1.
Determine the IP address of the HMI. You can find the IP address by opening the “System Information” window from the System Toolbar on the HMI.
2.
Make sure your computer is connected to the same local area network as the HMI.
NOTE: If you are connecting the HMI directly to the Ethernet port on your computer, you must use an Ethernet crossover cable. If going through an Ethernet switch, you can use a straight-thru or crossover cable.
In Windows Explorer:
3.
Enter the following address into the navigation bar, substituting the IP address at the end for the HMI’s IP:
ftp://uploadhis:111111@192.168.1.50
NOTE: 111111 is the default “Upload history” password. If the password is different in the HMI, use that password instead.
4.
Press Enter. Windows Explorer will now show The Internet > 192.168.1.50 in the address bar, and the datalog, eventlog, and recipe folders appear in the view pane. Some folders are read only. The usbdisk and pccard (SD Card) folder will only be writable if the option is in the first part of this tech note is enabled in the system settings.
You can open each folder and copy-and-paste or drag the contents to your computer’s hard drive without interrupting the operation of the HMI.
In an Internet Browser:
5.
Enter the following address into the navigation bar, substituting the IP address at the end for the HMI’s IP:
ftp://uploadhis:111111@192.168.1.50
Note: 111111 is the default “Upload history” password. If the password is different in the HMI, use that password instead.
6.
Press Enter. The datalog, eventlog, and recipe folders appear in the view pane.
NOTE: You can copy the recipe file from the HMI to your computer, modify it with the Recipe Editor (or the Recipe Database Editor in EZwarePlus), and copy it back to the HMI using the Windows Explorer method. When updating a recipe file in the HMI, copy the recipe.rcp (or recipe.db) file to the HMI and overwrite the existing file. If a window pops up that says, “Calculating the time required to upload the files,” ignore it and click, “Yes” in the “Confirm File Replace” window.
IMPORTANT: Since recipe.rcp data is saved once every minute in the HMI, after updating the recipe.rcp file, the HMI must be restarted within one minute or the updated recipe data will be overwritten by the existing data.
This does not apply to the recipe.db file when using the Recipe Database in EBPro, but the Recipe View screen must be refreshed to update the data by leaving the window and coming back to it or by restarting the HMI.
