Allocating your I/O Expansion Module and Online Communication

Skills you’ll gain: Allocating and configuring your I/O modules as well as going online with your Maple PLC.

Allocating your I/O Expansion Module – 1st Method

  • Click the I/O Reservation button
  • Or double click on Reserved I/O in the Project Window.

If your I/O expansion modules are physically connected to your Maple Modular PLC’s, they are automatically detected in Maple Logic. If the I/O expansion modules are not connected to your Maple Modular PLC, you can still allocate and configure them in Maple Logic by choosing “12Slot Base” in the base settings in the “Maple PLC Module settings”

  • Right click and press “Base Setting”
  • Choose “12Slot Base”
  • Press “OK”

To insert an I/O Module:

  • Right click on an empty card slot and click “Insert Module”
  • Or drag the I/O card from the right into the empty slot.

Configuring your I/O Module:

  • Double click on an I/O Module
  • Double click on a channel
  • Configure the Channel Setup then press “OK”
  • Press “Save” and “Close”

Allocating your I/O Expansion Module – 2nd Method

There is another method to allocate your I/O modules in Maple Logic:

  • Start a “New Program” and select “Special Card Initialization”.
  • Click in a Slot (Slot 1, Slot 2, etc.)
  • In the drop-down menu, choose an I/O Module
  • Click “Detail Setting” to open the “Module Setup” menu
  • Double click on a channel and configure the “Channel Setup”.
  • Click “Save”

Going Online with your Maple PLC – 1st Method

  • Go to Online and select “Connect Option”
  • Choose either “Ethernet, USB or Serial”
  • Click “OK”
  • Go to “Online” and click “Connect” to go online with your Maple PLC
  • When the PLC establishes online connection a green “RUN’ and yellow “OK” indicator button will pop up.
  • In the “Message Window” it will say ” Connection established with CPU” to indicate the PLC is online.
  • To download to your PLC, go to “Online” and click “Download”
  • A message pops up to change to “Remote STOP”. Click “Yes”.
  • The “Download” window pops up. Check off different “Download Options”, then click “OK”.
  • The PLC goes through a “Transmitting” process
  • In the “Message” window it will read “Download succeeded”
  • A message pops up to switch to “Remote RUN”. Click “Yes”.
  • Simply switch from RUN to STOP mode by clicking the green “RUN” button.

Going Online with your Maple PLC – 2nd Method

  • You can establish online communication with your Maple PLC using the “Link + Download + Monitor” button.
  • This method downloads and establishes online communication at the same time with your Maple PLC.
