Summary
Maple Systems Managed Network Switches support unencrypted and encrypted outbound traffic. Supported SMTP servers are Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo Mail, and Yahoo Mail Plus. Internal SMTP servers for intranet networks are supported. This document describes the process of setting up mail alarms for a MapleLink network switch.
Note: SMTP providers may have restricted third party app or device access.
Solution
List of SMTP servers, and corresponding port numbers:
External SMTP servers:
1.
Create an account with one of the above listed SMTP providers.
2.
Enable two factor authorization on the newly created, or existing account for secure account handling.
3.
Generate an App Password on the newly created, or existing account that has two factor authorization enabled.
4.
Establish a connection to the Managed Network Switch in one of two ways:

Graphical User Interface via Web Browser over HTTP or HTTP/s.
Command Line Interface via Command Prompt, or PuTTY over SSH or Telnet.
5.
Proceed to Web Configuration or CLI Configuration.
Internal SMTP servers:
1.
Download and Install Postfix or hMailServer depending on your computers OS.
2.
Create a Fake/Internal domain, or use an existing domain (DNS resolution is not required).
3.
Configure hMailServer or Postfix to allow traffic from a range of IP addresses..
4.
Enabling Relay:
a.
hMailServer: Enable “Allow Relay” in Settings
5.
Postfix: mynetworks must be configured to trust the switch’s IP/subnet in /etc/postfix/main.cf. As well as smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, reject_unauth_destination.
6.
Proceed to Web Configuration or CLI Configuration.
