Summary

This document provides a step-by-step guide to enabling and disabling the Windows password expiration feature on Maple Systems Windows Industrial PCs. Password expiration is a built-in Windows security feature designed to prompt users to update their passwords periodically, enhancing overall system security. While this feature is beneficial in many environments, certain industrial applications may require a static password policy to avoid disruptions.


Solution

You must be signed in as an administrator to use these options.

Local Users and Groups are only available in the Windows 10/11 Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions

Open Local Users and Groups (lusrmgr.msc) via the Run menu by pressing the Windows Key + R. Input lusrmgr.msc and press enter.

Perform the following actions:

Click/tap on the Users folder in the left pane.

Double click/tap on the name (ex. “User”) of the Local account you want in the middle pane.

In the General tab, check Password never expires box, and click/tap on OK

Note: Password never expires will be grayed out if the User must change password at next logon box is checked.
